This letter is to remind you of the upcoming recorder concert for all 3rd Graders. I hope you are as excited as I am to see everyone on the big stage sharing their hard work with you! The concert will take place on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Robert A. Read Performing Arts Center (Gateway High School Auditorium). Students should arrive at 6:30pm in the GHS Library to warm-up and prepare for the concert. Signs will be posted in the auditorium lobby to guide students to the library.
On the morning of May 21, 2018, ALL third grade students will report to school as usual. At 9:20am, students and their homeroom teachers will be bussed from their elementary school to GHS for a rehearsal in the space. This is critical to the evening running smoothly. The students will be in the space, find their seats, and have an opportunity to play on stage as a district-wide ensemble before the audience arrives. Students will then be bussed back to their respective schools by 12:15 pm for lunch and to finish their school day. There is a permission form attached that should be returned no later than Wednesday, May 16. There will be many families attending this concert, so there are a few things to be mindful of regarding space. Attached, there is a map of the GHS campus showing all of the available parking. The majority of parking is located behind the sports complex or behind the school in the student lot by the stadium. Please RSVP confirming your child’s participation and the approximate number of people in your party at the following link: https://bit.ly/2KCbOF5. If you do not have a Skyward account set up, please make a note on the permission slip whether or not your child will be participating in the evening concert and how many guests you expect to attend. When you arrive inside the Robert A. Read Performing Arts Center, please start filling the rows from the middle, leaving no seats empty. There will be families of every third grade and many fourth grade students in the district in attendance and we hope to seat as many as possible. There is no need to save a seat for your student because they will have an assigned seat to return to after their part of the program to watch the fourth grade students perform! On the evening of the concert, students should wear something nice white on top and black on the bottom. Boys should wear a white shirt with a collar, black dress pants, and black dress shoes with black socks. Girls should wear a white blouse and black dress pants/skirt or a black and white dress with black dress shoes to be comfortable in for standing for the duration of the evening. If your child does not have this, he/she should wear something as close as possible. No one will be told they cannot perform with us on stage! If you have any questions concerning the concert or the rehearsal the morning before, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for supporting your child’s music education, and I look forward to seeing you at the concert! Sing-cerely, Mr. Dave Verno
